Texas A&M's Vertical Flight Society is where students design, build, and fly cutting-edge aircraft, push the boundaries of AI-driven autonomy, and inspire the next generation of engineers. Whether you're a first-year exploring your interests or a senior ready to lead, this is your opportunity to be part of something extraordinary.
Beginning of Fall Semester
Our biggest recruitment window of the year. All programs and officer positions open for applications, and this is when we bring on the majority of new members across VFS.
Beginning of April
A selective second window for students looking to get a head start before the next academic year. Spring admits kick off with onboarding over the summer so they're ready to contribute from day one.
Applications are currently closed. Our next cycle is the Fall cycle. Check back when applications open, and use the time to explore our programs and sharpen your skills.
The best thing you can do right now is get familiar with what we build and how we work. Explore our programs below, check out the roles on each team, and find where your skills and passions fit.
Want to stand out? Start sharpening the skills that matter. Whether it's picking up CAD, diving into Python, learning about flight dynamics, or building your own projects, every bit of preparation shows in your application.
Step 1
Tell us about yourself, your experience, and what excites you about vertical flight. Applications are submitted right here on our website.
Step 2
Standout applicants are invited to sit down with current members and team leads. This is your chance to show us how you think, what drives you, and why you'd be a great addition.
Step 3
You're in. Selected applicants receive an official offer and are welcomed onto the team. This is where the real work begins.
Step 4
Spring admits go through a focused online training program for the Design Team and AI Research Team. You'll build the foundational skills and team knowledge needed to make an impact the moment the new semester starts.
Every interview is a mix of technical and behavioral questions, calibrated to your resume and where you are in school. If you're a freshman or sophomore, we're not expecting you to have all the answers. We want to see how you think through a problem and what you do when you don't know something yet.
What matters most to us is curiosity, creative thinking, and genuine drive. The students who thrive on our teams are the ones who love to learn in and out of the classroom and aren't afraid to take on a challenge.
We value demonstrated excellence in any field, even if it has nothing to do with the role you're applying for. Passion and dedication stand out no matter the discipline.
